Below you will find some frequently asked questions and their answers.

Q: Who are you?
A: We are a group of people brought together with the desire to help our community during these trying times. Currently, our volunteer roster counts 64 people, and we're always looking for more help.

Q: Do you take Government funding/food (e.g. Gemma Moran Food Pantry)?
A: No. As a religious organization, we do not mix Church and State. Further, there are too many restrictions on the people we can serve. The government wants us to ask patrons for financial information. We feel that is unnecessary and could be embarrassing for some.

Q: How do you get donations?
A: Through this web site, and local media. Lee Elci from WXLM (980 AM on your radio) has been very kind to us, and has Mary Howland, Director, on his show when she asks for air time.

Q: How does one come to dinner? Are there requirements for one to attend?
A: There are no requirements to join us. Just your desire for good food, great company, and a lovely evening!

Q: How did this come about?
A: Mary (Chapman) Howland was the Director of The SunShine Kitchen in Groton for 4 1/2 years. After her father's death, and her health issues, it was decided by the Board of Directors to close the Kitchen. Mary made every attempt to find a replacement for her, but sadly, no one was able to do the job. (Mary's 'real job' had been full-time care of her father, so was able to volunteer 45 hours a week to run the kitchen). After about a year of feeling horrible that the kitchen had closed, she put out a request in The Day newspaper, and on Lee's show. The response was wonderful, and here we are!
